Sit Down, Shut Up and Relax! –Taming "Monkey Mind"

I've tried to meditate on many occasions, but have only felt truly successful twice. Twice! Twice, in my entire life. I have a bad case of "monkey mind" -- when I sit down and try to focus on the inner portions of myself, when I try to NOT think... I fail.

I'm all over the place. I'm reviewing my "to-do" list. I'm worried about the projects sitting on my desk. I think about what I need to do for a client, friend or family member. I feel guilty for not DOING something. Then I feel guilty for feeling guilty for taking a few moments to call my own and I start wondering why I am that way and I start trying to figure out what I need to do to NOT be that way.
